The Curse of a Post & Junk Salvation

Why is it that every time I post something on my blog, things change and the post is all of the sudden irrelevant? It is, I believe, the curse of a post. What gets me is that I try my hardest not to post anything until I am certain about it...well, that said, this one is certain.

Saturday, February 5th, I will be joining a ton of talented vendors in Hillsboro for the Junk Salvation Vintage Flea Market. As a little thank you, please print the coupon below, and for being a friend of The Farrier's Daughter, you will receive $1 off admission. In fact, print one for your mom, sister, friend, cousin, daughter...print them for anyone who might want to go.

On to Bigger, Smaller Things = Furniture Liquidation

Finally settling into our home after 3 years of remodeling has been such a sigh of relief. Our family now gets to spend more time together, we are no longer living on top of each other in a barn that often left us feeling like we were camping 24-7, and so far, no bats!

Here is a little peek into our home, mostly finished when these pics were taken, but yet to be decorated.

Dining Room/Kitchen

Dining Room Chandelier found on Craigslist for a steal!

Architectural Salvage Chippy Corbels purchased from the Amazing Sue of Bella.

Our Master Bathroom

French doors looking onto the back deck from the Mud Room

(and our kitten trying to escape)

Columns on the front porch (pre paint job)

The drawback is that I am forced to get rid of some of my larger, furniture items. It appears my husband would like to actually use the garage, and I would like to be able to access my craft room that is currently serving as a storage unit. I have decided to sell the big stuff on craigslist so that I don't have to deal with shipping, so if you live in the area and are in need of some furniture...email me. I will continue to add more.

Vintage metal numbered folding chairs

Full size iron head and foot board

Gray Side Table/Night Stand with Bin Pull

Sold.

Unique Side Table made from an upcycled sewing table base and weathered barn board Sold.

Matching Set of Distressed White Side Tables

Sold.

Charming Round table with 4 Chairs.

In the meantime, I will be focusing on collecting and creating smaller finds that will better fit my space. A quick trip into Craft Warehouse today left me feeling like a kid in a candy shop...I stocked up and will now be busily sewing as I sit in my cozy coop watching it snow.

Check back for a New Year's Announcement that you don't want to miss!

Confessions of a Junkaholic

Tonight's bedtime stories came from Shel Silverstein's, Where the Sidewalk Ends. One of my all- time favorites that my Dad used to read to me, and that I now enjoy reading to my own girls. It's probably safe to say that we all have our favorites, I know I do. Tonight however, I stumbled upon one in particular that spoke to me, and if you are reading this blog, it most likely speaks to you in one way or another as well. So humor me for a moment while I share a little about myself...grrr, I mean...Hector the Collector Hector the Collector Collected bits of string, Collected dolls with broken heads And rusty bells that would not ring. Pieces out of picture puzzles, Bent-up nails and ice-cream sticks, Twists of wires, worn-out tires, Paper bags and broken bricks. Old chipped vases, half shoelaces, Gatlin' guns that wouldn't shoot, Leaky boats that wouldn't float And stopped-up horns that wouldn't toot. Butter knives that had no handles, Copper keys that fit no locks, Rings that were too small for fingers, Dried-up leaves and patched-up socks. Worn-out belts that had no buckles, 'Lectric trains that had no tracks, Airplane models, broken bottles, Three-legged chairs and cups with cracks. Hector the Collector Loved these things with all his soul- Loved them more than shining diamonds, Loved them more than glistenin' gold. Hector called to all the people, "Come and share my treasure trunk!" And all the silly sightless people Came and looked...and called it junk. What is most funny to me is that I am pretty sure I actually have some of the same treasures as Hector! Shhh, don't tell my husband, he doesn't need anymore reasons to tease me and call me the dreaded "H" word (and I am not talking about Hector here). So tell me, does anyone you know make hoarding jokes about your "junking" habits?

Holiday Shopping

Blackberry Junction is now over (more on that later), and I must suggest yet another not-to-miss shopping event. Sarah of RoostReimagined, has organized a wonderful show located in the heart of Salem at the Historic Mission Mill. Today is the last day, so head on over and shop 'til you drop!

Back to Blackberry Junction...

Someone told me something tonight as we all scurried to find our things, load them up and tie them down (couldn't have done this without the help of some friends and fellow vendors-Much love to you Sweet Country ), and I found it good enough advice to share.

As we tied down the last of my Beverly Hillbilly load, he said,

"Drive fast and don't look back!"

Now if that's not a piece of advice I don't know what is.

Luckily, I made it home with all intact and will be spending my day unloading treasures. As I do, I will be snapping pictures for some online selling. Check back for a link to the new shop.
